Three illegal miners have been confirmed dead; Two others injured

Three illegal miners have been confirmed dead yesterday at Manso Assamang galamsey site popularly called “Koofunkum” in the Ashanti region of Ghana after a pit they dug to search for gold caved in.

 

According to a palmerghonline.com report, the three; Kwadwo Asiamah age 38 a native of Assamang, Kwabena aka papa Kumasi age 25 yrs from Manso Assaman and Ayomah Agbon age 22years who comes from Zabira.

 

Two others injured were sent to the Saint Martin’s hospital seeking for treatment.

 

Despite Government’s to fight against illegal mining to save Ghana's forest resources, water bodies and human lives. Recent reports indicate that some illegal miners are still into the practice. Meanwhile, military men have also been deployed to galamsey prone areas to enforce new directives from government against illegal mining.
